We are offering one of the highly sought-after Series 1 OTS (Open Two-Seater) models with a 3.8 ltr. engine, in very good condition.
Restored to a very high standard with matching numbers and matching colours. The chassis number, engine number and gearbox number correspond exactly with the verified Heritage certificate. A reliable classic to drive yourself or a design icon for the ages that you’ll want to own.
This E-Type was built on 19 March 1963 and originally featured precisely this colour combination: Cream exterior, black interior and a black soft top.
This colour combination was highly sought-after, frequently ordered and is timelessly beautiful.
It was subsequently shipped to New York in the USA. America had no serious sports cars of its own, loved the E-Type and had the money. Nearly 70 per cent of left-hand-drive E-Types were sold to the USA, particularly the Roadsters (OTS).
In 2011, the current owner acquired this E-Type in the USA as a sound and unmodified restoration project and imported it to Germany.
The full restoration, carried out by a well-known and reputable restoration firm in Germany, began in 2016, and the E-Type was completely dismantled. The bodywork underwent extensive and expert bare-metal restoration.
The owner is tall and found the standard interior dimensions of an E-Type Series 1 OTS too cramped. However, this particular Series 1 was right at the top of his bucket list. So, as part of the project, the bulkhead behind the seats on the driver’s side was moved back slightly.
The mechanical components – engine, brakes, axles and gearbox – were also completely overhauled and repaired, sparing no expense. The aim was to achieve a top-class result.
The E-Type was completed in 2017. Great importance was attached to ensuring a highly reliable and roadworthy E-Type. The owner has frequently driven this OTS at classic car rallies. Care has always been taken to ensure regular maintenance and storage in perfect conditions.
