The MK 1 was launched in 1955 with two engine options of 2.4 and 3.4 and was available with 3 transmissions; 4-speed manual, 4-speed manual + overdrive and a 3-speed automatic. An overdrive was developed to reduce revs at high speeds over long distances and disc brakes front and rear were available at extra cost. This was unique for saloons at that time especially as sports cars were still equipped with drum brakes. In 1957 the MK I 3.4 ltr. measured by the British car magazine "The Motor" with a top speed of 192.8 km/h. A sensation. This beautiful JAGUAR MK I was built in October 1957 as a left-hand drive with 3.4 ltr. Engine, overdrive and disc brakes built and shipped to North America. In 1991 it came to Europe in the Netherlands and in 2016 it was bought by the last owner who completely and very extensively restored it until 2021. The engine and the transmission were removed and replaced by a new 3.4 ltr. replaced, the body was stripped of the paint Old English White, all corroded areas were professionally cut out and the new sheet metal parts were replaced. The doors were inserted perfectly and precisely and close like a safe, full and flush. In the end, the body was painted in the beautiful and very charming JAGUAR colour Ascot Fawn. The interior is completely original and has a very beautiful and well-kept patina. The wooden dashboard with the instruments positioned in the middle and the wooden panels around the door frames, as well as the seats, have been lovingly restored. Only the carpet has been renewed. The original fog lights and the correct spoked wheels in enamelled silver grey make this MK I even more likeable. To this day, the JAGUAR MK I is one of the most beautiful and timeless sports sedans of all time. It is extremely difficult to find a very good example where the bodywork is healthy and fits perfectly, the interior is intact and the technology is fully functional. Extensively tested and test driven by us, everything works as it should. Price excludes local taxes which may apply.
