This vehicle is one of a pair that were built by Land Rover Special Vehicles to support the company’s PR activities in countries such as Iceland, Oman, Morocco and Finland where it was regularly photographed and filmed by the media. To equip it for use in extremely harsh conditions, the vehicle has a number of special adaptions. As well as the 38” wide tyres, extended wheel arches and heavy-duty roof rack, the car has been fitted with a special ‘underdrive’ unit to account for the larger rolling circumference of the large tyres. ‘Bigfoot’ is fitted with an electric winch, auxiliary heater, internal roll cage and pneumatic locking differentials, all of which prepared the Land Rover for extreme conditions.
