This very early "Outside Bonnet Lock" Series 1 E-type was built in June 1961 and dispatched to Newcastle upon Tyne-based dealer Rossleigh. The car was restored on behalf of its owner by Jaguar Classic with the brief of creating a car that would be useable and enjoyable. The car is finished in a unique shade of light bronze, with chocolate brown leather interior. The seats are bespoke-made, with the appearance of the 3.8-type backrests, but with the comfort of later seats. A smaller steering wheel to aid comfort, coupled with speed-sensitive power steering ensures parking in a tight space is not troublesome, without compromising on steering feel at higher speeds. A five-speed Jaguar Classic gearbox is fitted, again to improve the car's ability to cruise at motorway speeds. The car features LED lighting, wider wheels and tyres, and a bespoke "Ohlins" suspension which transforms the handling of the car. An absolutely unique vehicle, available to purchase at a cost well below the cost of building a similar car.
